1. ऋक्षा मधुने लुभ्यन्ते I             ṛkṣā madhune lubhyante

The bears are longing for honey.

2. ऋषिरधुना पाणिना आचामति I   ṛṣiradhunā pāṇinā ācāmati

The sage is sipping water with the hand.

3. नृपा अक्षैस्तत्र दीव्यन्ति I           nṛpā akṣaistatra dīvyanti

The kings are playing with dice.

4. अलिर्मधुना माद्यति I                 alirmadhunā mādyati

Bee is rejoicing with honey. 

5.नरा विषेणासीं लिम्पन्ति I             narā viṣeṇāsīṃ limpanti

People are smearing the knife with poison.

6. रामः क्षत्रियान् परशुना क्राम्यति I   rāmaḥ kṣatriyān paraśunā krāmyati

Rama is attacking Kshatriyas with axe.

7. गुरुन् शिष्यांश्च शंसामः I                   gurun śiṣyāṃśca śaṃsāmaḥ

Let us appreciate the teachers and the disciples.

8. अरयो जनानां वसूनि हरन्ति I         arayo janānāṃ vasūni haranti

    The enemies are stealing the wealth of the people.

9. नरौ मृत्युं ऋच्छतः I                        narau mṛtyuṃ ṛcchataḥ  

Men are getting death.

10. बालस्य नेत्राभ्यामश्रूणि पतन्ति I    bālasya netrābhyāmaśrūṇi patanti

   Tears are falling down from the eyes of the boy.

11. जलेन अग्निः शाम्यति I                jalena agniḥ śāmyati

    The fire cools down with the water.

12. ऋषेरश्वौ श्राम्यतः I                    ṛṣeraśvau śrāmyataḥ

    The two horses of the sage are tired.

13. गुरुः शिष्यस्य पापात्ताम्यति I     guruḥ śiṣyasya pāpāttāmyati

    The teacher perishes because of the sin of the student.

14. गजा नगरे भ्राम्यन्ति I             gajā nagare bhrāmyanti

      The elephants are wandering in the city.

15. मधुना क्षीरेण च तुष्यन्ति बालाः I   madhunā kṣīreṇa ca tuṣyanti bālāḥ

      The children are pleased with milk and honey.

16. The warriors play for money.

योधाः धनस्य कृते क्रीडन्ति I            yodhāḥ dhanasya kṛte krīḍanti

17. The king’s horses become weary on the road today.

 राज्ञः अश्वाः अद्य मार्गे श्राम्यन्ति I   rājñaḥ aśvāḥ adya mārge śrāmyanti

18. The warrior pierces his enemy with the spear.

 योधः तस्य शत्रुं शूलेन छेदयति I        yodhaḥ tasya śatruṃ śūlena chedayati

19. Bees are fond of honey.

  भृङ्गाः मधुना तुष्यन्ति I                     bhṛṅgāḥ madhunā tuṣyanti 

20. The water of his tears moistens his feet.

  वाष्पजलं तस्य पदौ सिञ्चति I    vāṣpajalaṃ tasya padau siñcati

21. There bees are flitting about.

भृङ्गाः तत्र भ्रमन्ति I             bhṛṅgāḥ tatra bhramanti

22. Two men are cooking honey and fruits.

  द्वौ पुरुषौ मधु फलानि च पचतः I    dvau puruṣau madhu phalāni ca pacataḥ

23. When the teacher’s anger ceases, then the scholars rejoice.

   यदा गुरोः कोपः शाम्यति, तदा शिष्याः तुष्यन्ति I    yadā guroḥ kopaḥ śāmyati, tadā śiṣyāḥ tuṣyanti

24. Tears stand in the warriors’ eyes.

योधानां नेत्रेषु अश्रूणि तिष्ठन्ति I              yodhānāṃ netreṣu aśrūṇi tiṣṭhanti

25. The enemies overwhelm the king with arrows.

   अरयः राजानं बाणैः निहन्ति I              arayaḥ rājānaṃ bāṇaiḥ nihanti

26. A quarter of the injustice falls upon the king.

  अधर्मस्य चतुर्थांशः राजनि पतति I       adharmasya caturthāṃśaḥ rājani patati
